BOBSod Graces New "Diamonds Back" Youth Fields

West Coast Turf Donates Sod to Craig Counsell, Matt Williams Family, and Mark Grace Fields for D-Backs Foundation

Tempe, AZ... West Coast Turf is proud to have recently grassed Craig Counsell Field in Buckeye, AZ; Matt Williams Family Field in Show Low, AZ; and Mark Grace Thunderbolt Field at Luke Air Force Base, with BOBSod-the official turf of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chase Field.

These 3 fields are the newest of the 22 total fields in the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation "Diamonds Back" Youth Field Building Program, which was started in the year 2000. The cost of these new facilities is about $300,000 per field, and is supported by the "Diamonds Back" corporate sponsors, local businesses, and monetary donations from individual players. This program has allowed children from across the state to play baseball and softball at quality facilities. The new fields feature lights, fencing, irrigation systems, scoreboards, and stadium quality BOBSod turfgrass.

"West Coast Turf has been grassing Chase Field since day 1, so they know exactly what they are getting for these fields. We are able to provide these Arizona communities with Major League Baseball quality sod-these children are playing on the same turf the D-backs play on. Everyone can get excited about that. All of us at West Coast Turf are honored we're able to participate," said West Coast Turf spokesperson, Danielle Marman.

This is the second field for Mark Grace. "I am proud to be part of the program," Grace said. "This one at Luke Air Force Base is particularly exciting for me. It benefits the Air Force families, and I will definitely be out there for anything they need me for anytime."

The Counsell, Williams Family, and Grace fields join Luis Gonzalez Field in Tempe, Shawn Green Field in Peorioa, Troy Glaus Field in Casa Grande, Danny Bautista Field in Phoenix; Shea Hillenbrand Field in Chandler; Elmer Dessens Field in Tucson; Matt Mantei Field in Tempe; Mark Grace Field in Flagstaff; Miguel Batista Field in Sacaton; Jerry Colangelo Field in South Phoenix; Todd Stottlemyre Field in Guadalupe; Armando Reynoso Field in Yuma; Brian Anderson Field in Glendale; Steve Finley Field in Phoenix; Curt Schilling Field in Phoenix; Randy Johnson Field in Phoenix; O'Callaghan Field in Phoenix; Jay Bell Field in Phoenix; and Matt Williams Field in Phoenix.
